Richard Yoon, MD, director of Orthopedic Research in the Division of Orthopedic Trauma and Adult Reconstruction at Jersey City Medical Center, will describe his use of ViviGen in a series of challenging trauma cases. He also will discuss the 500-patient trauma registry he is leading that will collect data at seven Level 1 trauma centers to describe both the safety and efficacy of ViviGen.

Richard Yoon, MD, FAAOS, of RWJBarnabas Health in Jersey City, N.J., about the pros and cons of fixation or replacement of complex fractures of the hip and knee. The two biggest advantages to endoprosthetic replacement are reliable immediate weight-bearing and the ability to address the fracture pattern and preexisting arthritis simultaneously. Older adults have substantial challenges with partial or no weight-bearing, and those restrictions could render them unable to get out of bed or a wheelchair, further contributing to deconditioning.
